Today we've had the opportunity to attend training for our upcoming attendance and gradebook software. It's very exciting to be able to use this technology to make our lives easier. We will be working with a new gradebook program called On Course Systems starting in January. In addition, there is a planning feature which will allow us to work collaboratively to share lesson plans, class websites, and documents. The rest of our county will be using this program beginning in August of 2009. As Maria and Cheryl would say... It's so easy, a caveman can do it!
As we pilot this program in January, the teachers will only be required to use the attendance and gradebook feature. When this gradebook program goes live for the parents in the fall each parent will have a password to access their own child's grades. Progress Reports will go home that are generated from the system by the teacher. Look for training sessions on site to happen before the holidays... we all loved the program and we think you will too!

I am thrilled about the idea of learning something new. Did you really like it that much?
I can't wait to use this new program! As you may know, my daughter teaches high school, and I always knew that there was a more efficient way of recording grades from the way we, in the Elementary School, have been doing it in the past. I am so excited to, once again, be on the cutting edge of technology in reporting grades! Being in education is such a thrill, because I love learning something new every day! I am always looking forward to advancing, improving, and raising the bar for myself, as well as for my students and parents.

Finally, an electronic gradebook! Parents will be thrilled to have the access.
I'm sad I missed out. But it looks like a great program!
KK - We really did like it and I think it will work for us. Our parents are going to love it and it was simple to use - we all agree! :)
I am so excited about learning how to use this. I know as a parent I would be thrilled.
Just wondering how this new grade book will work for ESE grades...especially those on a modified curriculum. Once the grades are entered...can they be modified/adjusted?

Debbie -
ESE teachers will input the grades for all the kids on their caseload themselves, so you will put them in as you know they should be given. Hope that answers your question. :)
I'm excited to have everything in one place - grades, lesson plans, etc. I like the collaborative idea with the lesson plan sharing!
